Thinking of adding a summerhouse or wooden shelter to your garden? Not only do they provide the perfect garden retreat, they can also be repurposed as a home office, gym, cinema – the possibilities are limitless.
At Somerlap, we stock a range of beautiful ex-display summer houses of stunning quality. And if you’re looking to create a cosy corner in your garden, our softwood garden shelters are perfect for covering a barbeque or outdoor seating area.
Plot out your garden leisure area
When you know where you want your summer house or garden shelter to go, measure out the area. Check that your chosen structure fits there, and that you’re happy with the placement of it.
Remember to look at any garden plants or trees nearby, and to add any overhanging roof features or verandahs into your calculations. Also be sure to leave enough space for the doors and windows of your summer house to be opened. We advise leaving space around the boundary of your garden structure to ensure you can access all sides for maintenance.
What are you going to use your garden structure for?
If you are planning to use your summer house as a home office, you will need a power supply. It will also pay to know where the sun rises and sets each day, as this will affect how light and bright your summer house gets (and you may need to factor in the sun’s glare on your screens).
Whether you are working, relaxing, or firing up the barbeque on a summer’s day, our garden leisure structures come in a range of shapes and sizes to help you find the perfect solution for your garden.
