We welcomed an honourable visitor recently when MP James Heappey, recently appointed as a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP, came for a tour of our site.
Mr Heappey had been invited to visit us after our Managing Director Kevin Bond and Technical Services Manager Nigel Puddy attended a Chamber of Commerce meeting, where his fellow MP Iain Liddell-Grainger spoke about Brexit. During his visit he learned how our 40-year old business began; how it has developed over the years; and discussed issues which affect our business and others in the region. James Heappey said, “I was delighted to visit Somerlap, a family-run business based in Mark who craft some of the South West’s finest wood. We talked about the challenges facing the timber industry, including the detrimental effect of biomass, and the role that government can play in waste recycling. I stand ready to do all that I can to help Somerlap continue to be a great flourishing local business.”
