Spruce Ornamental Bark

Hi Sue, thank you for your review however we must address your comment that the product is toxic for dogs. We contacted Melcourt for a response and they tell us that their bark and wood-based products have been safely used in gardens and landscapes for around 50 years with no known cases of harm to animals. They use only natural materials found in forests and woodlands, with minimal additives (fertilizers and lime in composts) at safe, dilute levels.
Similar wood fibre products are widely used for farm animal, horse, and reptile bedding. Animals typically show no interest in mulches or growing media as they contain no food. As with any garden products, pets should be supervised to prevent them swallowing objects that could cause obstructions.
In nearly 40 years of trading, Melcourt say that they have no evidence of their products causing harm to pets or animals. I hope that helps.
