Somerlap in British Heart Foundation swimSomerlap’s Kevin and George Bond recently joined over a thousand swimmers in the annual Pier to Pier swim in Bournemouth. The event took place on 15th July and participants raised over £100,000 for The British Heart Foundation. Many braved the swim without wetsuits, but Kevin and George wisely suited up as the sea was still a fairly chilly 17°c.

Both Kevin and George successfully completed the 1.4 mile open water swim between Boscombe and Bournemouth Pier, although Kevin later admitted "it was tough going!".

The British Heart Foundation is the nation's heart charity and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research. Their pioneering research has helped to transform the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions. Registration is already open for the 2018 event, so if you've been inspired by Kevin and George's amazing achievement why not take the plunge and sign up?
