Somerlap have supported the charity Life Education Wessex & Thames Valley for several years now, because we love what they do.

Life Education Wessex deliver programmes that help children and young people make healthy lifestyle choices and empower them with the knowledge of how to stay safe and protect their physical and mental wellbeing.

In partnership with CAP Ceilings & Partitions Ltd – and with the sponsorship of British Gypsum and Knauf – we supported the Devon Charity Golf Day on Thursday the 16th of June, at sunny Woodbury Park Golf Club.

Even outside of the glorious weather, it was a successful day by all accounts. It couldn’t have come together without the help of fellow charity supporters SIG, CCF and Nevill Long – who helped to raise money by sponsoring the major holes on Woodbury golf course. Local pubs the Passage House and Heart of Oak kindly donated the refreshments, keeping everyone with a drink in hand as they enjoyed the day.

Various competitions took place, from ‘Beat the Pro’ to ‘Straightest Drive’, to the slightly more unusual ‘Nearest the Champagne’. Hardworking volunteers also helped set up and a raffle and auction, where the bids kept rolling in for all sorts of fantastic prizes donated by kind sponsors. Special guest Matt Le Tissier took a seat on the softwood bench we donated this year.

This day out always produces fun, fond memories and – even better – funds for this wonderful charity. This year, they managed to raise a whopping £22,475.65 for Life Education Wessex.

We here at Somerlap are immensely proud to take part in such a fantastic event. Together, we can help ensure children and young people are given the knowledge and self-confidence to lead safe, happy and healthy lives.
